SONGEVITY is a formation of world class musicians dedicated to performing original works encompassing their love of all genres as well as arrangements, occasionally spontaneous, of traditional compositions. The music has been described by the New York Times as "a slightly tricky derivation of hard-bop" and equally a combination of "heartland jazz and angular avant garde" by the LindyHopperNYC. This special edition of SONGEVITY at Philly Joe's features a dream team of international musicians.
Toms Rudzinskis (LV) is a saxophonist/composer of note, having been nominated for the Latvian Grammy Awards in 'Best Jazz Album' and 'Best Debut Album'. His dedication to performing original and modern music combined with his knowledge of traditional musics such as Balkan or jazz has taken him around the world. Award winning pianist/composer Tuomo Uusitalo (FI) will add his provocative playing to the mix. A fan of all genres of music, Uustialo has performs regularly with a stunning array of musicians in both Europe and North America. Alessandro D'Anna (IT) is a youthful force of nature behind the drums. His passion is clear to audiences spanning from Moscow to New York City and he's been selected by many international musicians such as Benito Gonzalez and Mark Gross for European tours. The founder/bassist/composer of SONGEVITY is Rob Duguay (CA/US), originally born in Toronto but living in New York since evacuating hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. With five recordings and having performed with a who's who of musicians in North America and Europe, Duguay contributes his prowess and experience to solidify the group. A concert of SONGEVITY will leave you clapping, dancing, and participating in the groove!
