This trio is really speaking with its own voice and they left me with huge hunger for more.

EST

Kjetil on tore ja andekas Norrast pärit klaverimängija, kel on õnnestunud välja anda mitu kriitikute ja kuulajate poolt kõrgelt hinnatud kinnisvarast inspireeritud pealkirjadega plaati – kuula kindlasti tema trio debüütalbumit “Not Nearly Enough To Buy A House” ja ka kiitust pälvinud jätkualbumit “What You Thought Was Home”. Tema triokaaslasi saab kõige paremini iseloomustada võlusõnaga “Grammy”, sest Bjørn on selle ihaldusväärse auhinna korra võitnud ning Andreas pälvinud nominendi tiitli. Üheskoos musitseerivad nad leebes skandiaavialikus võtmes, tempot liialt üles kruvimata. Aga mõnus äraolemine on nende kontserdil kindlasti tagatud.

The Kjetil Mulelid Trio released their debut album “Not Nearly Enough To Buy A House" in late 2017 on Norway's prestigious Rune Grammofon label, with its reputation for hand-picking some of the best experimental electronic, jazz and improvised music from Scandinavia. They have since their first release marked themselves as some of Norway's foremost jazz musicians with an active concert agenda in much of Europe, and with their highly acclaimed sequel album "What You Thought Was Home" which was released August 30 on the same record label. The album has been very prominent on streaming services and has also been praised by media from around the world. The trio has been very favorably featured in magazines such as "The Wire", "International Piano Magazine" and "The New York City Jazz Record," and was mentioned by Jez Nelson as "best of the year" on British radio Jazz FM. The three members are without a doubt of the most interesting from Norway's jazz musicians, with Norwegian Grammy Award winner Bjørn Marius Hegge on double bass, Grammy nominees Andreas Winther on drums, and pianist Kjetil Mulelid, known from other projects such as Wako and Kjemilie. Together they are forming a classic acoustic piano trio focusing on Mulelid’s beguiling compositions expertly balancing energetic, rhythmically complex and harmonically rich music with beautiful evocative melodies. While the trio incorporates that sense of calm, unhurried yet constantly unfolding sound world which is distinctively Scandinavian, Mulelid, in concert with bassist Bjørn Marius Hegge and drummer Andreas Winther, effortlessly conjure additional layers, tones, and textures, based upon group improvisations, and informed, in large part, by each others diverse musical experiences.

In recent years they have been very active on the European stage with concerts in Portugal, Stockholm Jazz Festival, sold out Vortex Jazz Club in London, City University Jazz Festival in Paris, packed Jazz Schmiede in Düsseldorf, Tromsø Jazz Festival, Southport Jazz Festival, and a startlingly large number other concerts in Japan, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Estonia, and Scandinavia.
