The concert project Sounds and Stories from Ruhnu Island is an interpretation of Ruhnu peoples’ musical heritage, the island’s history and village stories. The fondness for this island’s music first sprung from a stroke of fate in 2009, when one of the project's fiddler Karoliina Kreintaal, came across a 1938 recording of Ruhnu Swedish hymns and wedding music while browsing in the Malmö City Library. Fiddlers and friends, Lee Taul and Sänni Noormets soon joined her in the search for discovering colours, rhythms, and unique melodies of traditional Ruhnu Swedish music: truly something special when compared to the traditional music mostly played on the mainland of Estonia. The musical landscapes born from this fascination were formed into a debut album in 2019 and is called The Many Points of Ruhnu. The same year the CD was nominated in the Estonian Folk Awards in three categories: Genuine Tradition, Album of the Year and Debut Album of the Year.
Ruhnu saare lood ja laulud on kolme viiuldaja ja laulja – Karoliina Kreintaali, Lee Tauli, Sänni Noormetsa – ning jutuvestja Kairi Leivo interpretatsioon ruhnurootslaste muusikapärandist, saare värvikast ajaloost ning kohalikust külakroonikast. Kontserdikuulaja saab võimaluse minna rännakule Ruhnu saare sündmuste ja kauni looduse keskele – pulma, peole, mereranda, rahvamajja, kirikusse või otse keset saare igapäevast elu.
