LUBOŠ SOUKUP QUARTET (CZE-DNK-DEU)

  • Philly Joe's jazz club 10 Vabaduse väljak Tallinn, Harju maakond, 10146 Estonia (map)

Taani trummar Morten Hæsum on üks Taani jazziskeene nõutumaid noori trummareid. Suurepärane pianist Christian Pabst on olnud kvarteti hing juba 2012. aastast alates.

Luboš Soukup Quartet on andnud välja kolm albumit: „Beyond the Borders“, „Through the Mirror“ ja „Zeme“. Viimased kaks albumit pälvisid Tšehhi muusikakriitikute kiitikute tähelepanu ning need valiti Tšehhi Jazziraadio aasta albumiks 2013. ja 2017. aastal.

Koosseis:
Luboš Soukup – saksofon
Christian Pabst – klaver
Morten Haxholm – kontrabass
Morten Hæsum – trummid

Leader of several prize-winning jazz bands, Czech saxophonist, Luboš Soukup marries his awe-inspiring technique and boundless sense of musical adventures with a stubborn desire to make music that moves people. His music speaks directly to the audience. Uniting all of his compositions are well-composed themes and colorful improvised soundscapes, which give listeners a deep experience and evoke beautiful mental images and emotional states.

After leaving the Czech republic and living and playing in Poland, Soukup settled down in Copenhagen, where he found the best-suitable musicians to fulfill his dreams about honest music that speaks to music lovers beyond jazz's inner circle. Danish bassist Morten Haxholm has a mature way of making music, he has released a bunch of great recordings with such names as Jonathan Kreisberg, Melissa Aldana, Gilad Hekselman, and others. Danish drummer Morten Hæsum is one of the most sought-after drummers to rise on the Danish jazz scene, mainly because of his highly interactive and explosive playing, which brings the best of his bandmates and the music out. The fabulous pianist Christian Pabst has been the core of the quartet since 2012. Lubos and Christian decided to deepen their musical connection even more and just released a duo album Levitas (2022), that got many positive reviews.

The band has released three CDs: 'Beyond the Borders', 'Through the Mirror', and “Zeme” (The Earth), with Lionel Loueke as a special guest. The last two albums got noticed by Czech music experts and were voted the best jazz album of the year (2013, 2017) in a survey run by Czech Jazz Radio.
