Holger Marjamaa sündis 28 aastat tagasi Eestis, Tallinnas ja kasvas üles muusikalises perekonnas. Juba väga varakult ilmutas Holger muusikalist talenti ja muusikaarmastust, talle meeldis lauluga imiteerida kuulsaid klassikapalasid ja jazzistandardeid. Viieselt alustas Holger klaveriõpinguid ning astus hiljem Tallinna Muusikakeskkooli. Tema klaveriõpetaja oli professor Juozapėnaitė-Eesmaa; jazzklaverit õppis Holger Saue Muusikakoolis. Hiljem jätkusid tema õpingud Eesti Muusika-ja Teatriakadeemias ning Helsinki Sibeliuse Akadeemias.

Marjamaa on esinenud koos selliste staaridega nagu Dennis Chambers, Lizz Wright, Lonnie Liston Smith, John Riley, Steve Wilson, Mike Phillips, Jukkis Uotila, Lee Ritenour, Mark Gross, Chris Botti, Eesti Riiklik Sümfooniaorkester jt. Holger on võitnud mitmeid auhindu, nii jazz- kui klassikalise muusika vallas: I koht Rainbow Jazz võistlusel Tartus (2006), Grand Prix XXIV rahvusvahelisel Jazzklaveri konkursil Vilniuses (2013), II koht II Rahvusvahelisel Tallinna klaverikonkursil (2011), III koht Rahvusvahelisel Chopini konkursil Narvas (2009), Noore jazztalendi auhind (2013). Marjamaa jõudis 2018.aastal Thelonious Monk Jazzklaveri konkursil poolfinaali.

Ta on andnud kontserte USA-s, Euroopas, Aasias, kontserdipaikades nagu Lincoln Centre Dizzy’s Club, Mezzrow Jazz Club, Smalls Jazz Club, Blue Note Tokyo jm. Marjamaa karjäär viis ta New York’i, kus ta õppis magistriõppes ülimainekas Manhattan School of Music’us. Talendikast noorest küpseks muusikuks sirgunud Holger Marjamaa on nõutud jazzpianist nii Euroopas kui teistel kontinentidel.


Holger Marjamaa, 28, was born in Tallinn, Estonia and raised in a musical family. From an early age Marjamaa demonstrated precocious musical interest and talent, able to imitate, sing and play well-known classical pieces and jazz standards. Marjamaa began formally studying classical piano at the age of 5 in Tallinn Music High School under Aleksandra Juozapėnaitė- Eesmaa and jazz piano at the age of 7 in Saue Music School. He continued his studies at Estonian Music Academy and Theatre and Sibelius Academy.

As a professional, Marjamaa has performed with Dennis Chambers, Lizz Wright, Lonnie Liston Smith, John Riley, Steve Wilson, Mike Phillips, Jukkis Uotila, Lee Ritenour, Mark Gross, Chris Botti, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra etc. Holger holds many awards in both jazz and classical piano performance, including: first prize in Estonia’s Rainbow Jazz Competition (Tartu, Estonia; 2006); Grand Prix at the XXIV International Jazz Piano Competition (Vilnius, Lithuania; 2013); second prize at the II International Tallinn Piano Competition (Tallinn, Estonia; 2011), third prize at the International F.Chopin Piano Competition (Narva, Estonia; 2009); and the Young Estonian Jazz Talent Award (Tallinn, Estonia; 2013). Marjamaa was also a semifinalist in the 2018 Thelonious Monk Jazz Piano Competition. He has performed across the United States, Europe and Asia, venues as Lincoln Centre (Dizzy’s Club), Mezzrow Jazz Club, Smalls Jazz Club, Blue Note Tokyo, Blue Note New York, Blue Note Shanghai, Blue Note Beijing, Monterey Jazz Festival etc.

Marjamaa’s musical career has lead him to New York City, where he studied in the Masters program at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music and in 2019 he started touring around the globe with Grammy - Award winning trumpeter Chris Botti. A talent all grown up, Marjamaa is now an in-demand jazz pianist in both Europe and abroad.
